The need: A complete renovation of the historic Amazon Building, which was originally constructed in 1895 to house the Princess Knitting Company, into modern loft-style apartments.
The solution: A 126-unit apartment building designed to preserve the Romanesque architectural style of Chicago architect Henry Ives Cobb.
The Amazon Apartments feature exposed heavy timber construction with original Chicago brick, exposed ductwork, and hardwood floors. Residents enjoy all that downtown life has to offer, with most apartments offering panoramic views of Muskegon Lake. In addition, the building has 10,000-square-feet of commercial space on the street level to accommodate a hairstyling salon, as well as retail and professional office space.
