Marshall Nursing & Rehabilitation Community | Marshall, MI
The need: Marshall Nursing & Rehabilitation Community was beginning a major transformation. Based on Eden Alternative theory and Greenhouse design principles, they were restructuring internal operations, programs and their service model to deliver more personalized programs tailored to residents' interests. They needed a facility conducive to their new way of doing business.
The solution: Abandon the conventional. No more narrow hallways reminiscent of facilities of the past. Hooker DeJong tore down barriers and created open spaces allowing for clustered communities that match residents with those of similar interests. Each community equipped with its own kitchen as well as various gathering spaces to encourage interaction and a sense of belonging.
A new, full service, state-of-the-art rehabilitation center was added along with exterior and interior renovations to the entry, lobby, corridors and resident rooms.
