City of Muskegon Public Safety Building | Muskegon, MI
The need: A new facility to house the city's central fire operations and the county's central dispatch, and also serve as a firefighter training center. The location was considered strategic to the redevelopment of downtown, and therefore had to blend with the city's master plan.
The solution: A new public safety building with five spacious bays for the city's sophisticated firefighting equipment, a central dispatch operating room, and firefighter training areas designed to simulate various technical rescue, ladder operation and water suppression scenarios. Training areas include a 3 story, 35' tall training tower, a 758 square foot training mezzanine and an 1190 square foot training room with audio visual capabilities for classroom lecture.
The façade and elevation were designed to be complementary to the downtown development plan.
